Wage Slaves
Maybe there's some economic mumbo-jumbo that little old me doesn't get. I have a friend who I expect will let me know if there is. But could someone please explain to me why the Republicans say a tax cut will spur the economy because it gives people more money to spend, but raising minimum wage is a mistake because "Wages do not cause sales. Sales are needed to provide wages. Wages do not cause revenue. Revenue drives wages," according to Republican Senator Mike Enzi of Wyoming? How is it that the argument of more money in people's pockets so they can buy things works for tax cuts but not for raising minimum wage? Oh right... 'cause the tax cuts primarily benefitted people making over $100,000 a year, while raising minimum wage would benefit the working poor. ::smacks self in head:: What was I thinking? In related news, I have a job interview at LifeTime Fitness this afternoon. I really hope I get the job -- I'd love to spend more time at the gym. I'm curious about personal training and have been since I worked with Juli last year. This is an opportunity to really see the fitness industry from the inside. Place your bets now -- will I become disgusted or more enthused?
