Things to Ponder on a Thursday Night
If someone said to me, "I only lost a pound this week," I would be all about the "you go, that's great, who cares if it's not two pounds??" If someone said to me, "All my life, I wanted to be a writer, and this whole past year I kept a blog, the most committed thing I've done, but it's not 'real' writing," I'd never say, "Well, that's great, but when are you really going to commit yourself?" I'd say, "That's fantastic -- you must really be warming up for something big." If someone said to me, "I only made it to the gym an average of three times a week for the past four months, and only lost about 20 pounds," I would say, "That's awesome -- I'll bet you have noticed some serious changes in your body, like increased strength and stamina. And only twenty pounds?! Do you realize how much that is?" If someone said to me, "I wrote my first full story in ages a few weeks ago, but it's not much..." I'd say, "Are you kidding?! That's fantastic! Great job!" So why don't I say that to me? Why am I so different? Why don't I deserve my own support?
