The Religious Right are going into Martyr Mode and I find it frightening. If we have learned nothing else from the Islamic extremists, we have learned what happens when religious zealots feel persecuted and cornered. Problem is, our zealots are at the helm of the most powerful country in the world. And they're swiftly trying to eradicate the checks and balances that were created by the "Christian" forefathers they keep going on about to keep this sort of thing from happening. The recent attempts to paint any non-Republican as anti-religion are reprehensible and, I fear, somewhat successful. As the oil runs out, the bullshit will run higher and we already know that (again) people who are running scared do desperate things.
