Ironical %-). Are these Christians ... actually attempting to *force God* to bring on The Rapture to their calendar??? Yup they know best. Reagan had many of the same aspirations. with love, ophelia

There's so many atrocities in this world, it's overwhelming. Bush is but one of many leaders who feel it's OK to do what he does. I spent a lot of time being outraged, upset, and frustrated with things. And it kept me as a person constantly on the edge, in a pit of despair, never able to really truly see the good in the world. Because no matter how good that was, the atrocities still existed.
These days I'm still angry at the atrocities, and yes, Bush is one of the worst. But I will not give him or the Christian right my own personal power. I will not give them the right to keep me in fear of their next move, and I will not give them the power to take away the joy I feel from the little things in life. I feel strength in this position. I will continue to speak up and do the work to change things. I will support those who strive to create a world I believe in. But I will not be afraid.
The earth, the goddess, all that we hold sacred will still be here if people destroy one another. We live one day at a time and refuse to be something we are not. I'll never give up hope that we can change the world.

It's hard even to know how to respond. That these people think that their way is the only way God can be seen and understood denies so much of what God -- if you believe in that -- is capable of. And that's just for a start. Well, at least I know I'm safe, for now. They'll need some Jews at the end to burn in the hellfire.

Thank you for adding the last line. I was sitting here wondering how we all got grouped into that category of people who are blind! I read Bill Moyers speach, allowed. I didn't feel I should be the only one disgusted and I hoped it would open eyes. I never realized how uneducated educated people could be. Don't give up hope, I'm not.

I *will* read it on lunch but for now I can tell you (I'm in MO, you're from close enough here to know the mentality of the area) the reaction BY a fundie: "Bill Moyers is an alcoholic and sinner. I follow what no MAN says." They take issue to being reminded he's a minister too. You can't argue this point with them...they won't read it, listen to it (Mr. Moyer's speech), or be told about what's in it. They're decided.
