Well said, love it. Adding this to my favorites. Also, it never ceases to amaze me when fundies say "you're going to hell!" to folks who don't even believe in their hell. It's not an effective scare tactic.

I share your fear and sorrow. I just wanted to say I think this was well said - you have my support.

*HUGS* And I have to agree with Cedar; people try to do the whole "God's gonna gitcha for that" thing with me, and I just look at them and say "Who?"

I found you via your banner, and I must say that you have put the whole religion thing in a very nice, neat nutshell, wherein one always finds a kernel of truth. The whole thing about religion is that it is so personal and relies so much on the individuals faith that it is impossible for any one group to tell any other group what to think or how to worship. You would think, in this day and age of science and enlightenment, that people would know better. Sadly, they seem to have taken a step backwards. Love your style!

I had to throw this in here. While researching the Treaty of Tripoli, I found this on a resource link. Points to the person who knows who wrote it. "I do not believe in the creed professed by the Jewish church, by the Roman church, by the Greek church, by the Protestant church, nor by any church that I know of. My own mind is my church. " It was one of our founding fathers. Since I don't have my diary yet, I'll make it simple- http://www.earlyamerica.com/review/summer97/secular.html

Way to go Monica, and way to go Cedar. Christian scare tactics don't effect non-Christians. However, we exist among many faiths whose followers continue to use their religious doctrine to scare percieved heretics. I don't get scared by words. I get scared when words are used as an excuse to harm others. Every faith has been guily of this. Faith isn't what's wrong with the world, people are. Whatever each of us believes in, we need to all realize the truth will sort itself out in the end, despite us.

I echo the sentiments of everyone else. You've stated your position eloquently and respectfully.
