I like to think I have some fashion sense, but I have to keep checking with my kids that I really do look all right and not like a middle-aged woman trying to regain her youth. I just hate clothing designed for my age group. When I do buy something new, it has to be of good quality and of a timeless style, because I will hang on to it for many years. Ephemeral fashion has never been my forte.

I admit that I am guilty of that myself. I have 3 kids under the age of 6. Who cares about fashion when your up to your knees in dirty diapers. My kids are lucky if their clothes even match at this point in time!!!!

Ooooooh, comfort is GOOoooood. Things that don't get hay stuck in them are good too. Along with stuff that doesn't wrinkle when tossed on the floor and put back on in moments of panic. :-)

I'm commenting on your sidebar book choices. I loved dead witch walking, and have you slay me on my list of "to reads". We ought to compare book lists sometime! (*)>

I never wear makeup and I consider my hiking boots fashionable. I know I should have grown out of my tom-boy phase...but it seems like it has only gotten worse with age. Peace!

I found your site via BlogExplosion and I just wanted to drop you a note on your site (as opposed to the BE bar) to let you know that I find it absolutely fascinating. On an unrelated note, I love your butterfly graphic. Have a great day! -J-

Oh, but Docs go with everything, from faded droopy-hemmed floral tea-dresses to tight rubber trousers! Hey, despite my advancing years, I'm well and truly stuck in the post-punk/mod/goth/retro/vintage/bohemian oevre - all fishnets and Docs, with Chrissie Hynde eye make-up (c.1980) and a hint of Janis Joplin and Stevie Nicks in the fur hats and feather boas and velvet coats, a smudge of Jim Morrison's leather pants and a touch of Courtney Love and the Princess of Wales in the tiaras - and all dripping with kilograms of silver, amber and jet jewellery, fake flowers and anything else that's flashy and sparkly. I like to think that my clothes are versatile enough to take me from, say, quiet coffee with a friend in the morning all the way to, say, headlining at Wembley Stadium in the evening, without missing a beat. (Of course, in my own mind I look amazingly like Angelina Jolie, too...) Love, R xxx

I am 10 lbs. overweight and hate jeans! I am soooo much more comfortable in dress pants ...I just buy whatever is on the cutest manequin ;) I'd go naked if it was lawful. I really really hate dislike clothes ..and refuse to wear panties!

The show... "What Not to Wear" scares me too. They couldn't pay me enough to go on that show. But, I have my own little trick that might work for you. I head for the mall, park myself on the outer edges of the food court so I can people watch. I indulge in a LARGE coffee and then watch for outfits that I like on people that are walking by. That alone can be a real eye opener. I have noticed some really interesting combinations that would never have occurred to me and as I sip away, I scribble down in a notebook what they were wearing. There are some very fashionable people out there and I steal ideas all the time. ;)

Mon, I still have AND wear the sweater you gave me our sophomore year in high school. Does that give you any inclination of what my closet looks like. You are so not alone! :)
