Still More Coolness

And in Other Boring News, the Unpacking Continues

It is difficult to come up with something witty or entertaining to report about unpacking. Really. The funniest anecdote to relate happened on Friday, when Jeff and Waylon were unloading the truck. They were taking our king-sized mattress up to our bedroom, thinking that this staircase was going to be the biggest problem:

They were wrong. After they got the mattress up the stairs -- rather swiftly, I might add -- they were bolstered by their success, maybe even cocky, and when they cleared the stairs, they hefted the mattress by its handles and quickly started making their way down the short hallway.. only to be thwarted by the door frame, which Waylon cleared, but the mattress did not. When the mattress stopped, Waylon, who had been walking backwards, was pulled forward by his grip on the mattress, knocking the mattress into Jeff, who then flew backwards, feet in the air, landing on his back with a thump. Both Waylon and Jeff got such a case of the giggles, they sounded like two teenaged girls at their first party with boys. I have to admit, I giggled too -- it was funny. They finally managed to get the mattress in, though they learned not to be in such a hurry with it.

Other than that momentary hilarity, the rest of our unpacking has been woefully uneventful. We did have a nifty thunderstorm last night, reminding me of the one thing I do like about the desert in the summertime. Mom came out to visit yesterday afternoon and stayed the night for her doctor's appointment today. I'm looking forward to more of these kinds of visits.
