Still More Coolness

Baby Belly Laughs

I just had the most hilarious experience of putting Nina to bed. This has never happened before and I really hope it doesn't become a habit or we're all in trouble. Now I will grant that her bedtime was a little late and that maybe, like her mom, she gets a little loopy when she's tired. Maybe Gab read her some entertaining stories before I went in to sing to her. Maybe it was because Gab went to bed at the same time, due to the lateness. I don't know. But a transcript of what happened follows:

Me, singing somewhat raspily due to the cold: Roooock-a-bye baaaabeee...
Nina: Blebbity-peep-bop
Me, carrying on determinedly: Ooonnn the treetop
Nina, singing: fee-bob
Me, trying to hold my shit and not laugh: Wheeen the wind bloooows...
Nina starts laughing. Not giggling. Laughing. Big belly laughs, the infectious kind. Now I'm laughing too.
Gab: Are you tickling her?
Me, still laughing: No! She just started laughing!
Nina is still giggling, which makes me giggle, which makes her laugh, which makes us all laugh.

I muddled through that song and then the next three, all of us laughing all the way. I abandoned the last two songs and put Nina in her crib. She had commentary for that too, but honestly, the representative combination of letters would just make no sense.

I can hear her in there now, chattering to Gab and laughing occasionally. I don't know what has her so happy tonight, but is anything more infectious than baby belly laughs?
