Dharma Punx
I finished Dharma Punx today. It's definitely a memoir, rather than a how-to book about Buddhism, but it piqued my interest nonetheless. While I was never as deep into the punk scene as Noah Levine (and I'm grateful, I think), I can certainly relate to his struggles with rage and judgment, if not with his struggles with alcohol and drug addiction. I learned just enough about Buddhism to want to know more, to know if it has a place in my spiritual practice. I find many parallels to my philosophies that are not surprising -- I've always known there were similarities. I have more books already on my shelf, including one by Levine's dad, so I'm good to go there. I think what I'm most interested in is meditation practices, chanting and the practiced application of love and compassion. Anyone out there combine Paganism with Buddhism? How does it work for you?
EDIT: I forgot to link to the website for the book! Buy It! There's other cool stuff at his website... audio files of talks, etc. I haven't listened to them all yet, but the ones I did listen in on were fascinating.
