It appears there is a possibility that our not being directly affected may change. Arizona is accepting at least 1000 evacuees from the South (could be arriving as soon as tomorrow) and ASU may be providing 24/7 police coverage for it as they may be partially housed on campus. If that's the case, Jeff may be facing 7 12 hour shifts a week -- i.e. mandatory overtime with only a few days off every few weeks (and actually, I'm just speculating on that. Jeff was told it would be 7 days a week, period). The money would be quite helpful and it could increase his chances of getting on as a recruit as surely they will be looking for more full-fledged officers to do this work. On the other hand, all that time away from home is daunting and we will certainly have to put Nina in daycare. Still, this is part of the career he's choosing and I could hear a certain kind of excitement in his voice. Will update when I know more.

In other news, Nina got sick earlier this week and passed it on to Jeff who has apparently decided to pass it on to me. I feel awful and there will be no rest until Jeff gets home at about 7 tonight. Ugh!
