Why web (of LiveJournal) Rocks
In response to this meme: web is one of the most giving people I've ever met -- she was a key person in forming her spiritual community, works with people in crisis and always seems to make time for her friends. web is also just great fun to be around, always the first to suggest an impromptu gathering for fun. I was introduced to her quirky sense of humor when she stayed with me for an Iron Pentacle class a few years back. I couldn't have asked for a better house guest -- she didn't complain and bonded with my kitties. What I really love about web is her honesty. I worked with her briefly as an organizing mentor (she quickly surpassed me in skill and experience) and was always blown away by how completely open she was with her feelings and apprehension when we spoke. Even though she was, in fact, pretty much on top of things, I really appreciated being the person she called to vent when things got a little hairy, as they often do. This willingness to be vulnerable spills over into web's journal, where she has recently wrestled with the decline of her father's health and his death. I find simple statements can speak volumes (such as her recent entry which simply said, "grief sucks." Couldn't have said it better.) and I love even the goofy posts that go up from time to time just updating friends on how her day at work is doing. I also like that web isn't afraid to ask for what she needs, in the mundane sense or in the spiritual sense. I feel like I always know where I stand with her and that I don't have to try to guess at what she wants -- she'll let me know. That's a nice trait in a friend. Ultimately, I admire web. I admire her work ethic and her commitment to community. I admire her sharing of her personal and spiritual work. And I admire that her enthusiasm is contagious -- her community is a testament to that. So these reasons and many more are why web rocks -- check her out!
